ReDevil

Backstory

ReDevil is 2D Side Scrolling action game currently in development.  In it the player is a yokai hunter whose job is to eliminate the yokai threat terrorizing the city.  All the enemies are based off yokai from Japanese folklore.

I initially started this game by myself as a passion project inspired by my love for action sidescrolling games like Megaman and Azure Striker Gunvolt.  Eventually I was able to present this game and assemble a team to help me work on the game as my thesis project at George Brown College!

Contributions

  • Managed a team of Artists and Programmers to create assets (scripts and art assets) for the game.

  • Planned the concept of the game and created the original prototype of the game in Unity.

  • Programmed gameplay features such as Red's 3 Hit Sword Combo, Aerial Down Slash, and enemy behaviors for Chochin Obake, Waniguchi, and Nodeppou.

  • Drew initial concept art for the game's setting and enemies.

  • Researched and designed yokai from original Japanese folklore to design to create enemy attack patterns.

  • Rotoscoped 3D models into 2D sprites with Adobe Photoshop.

  • Designed a special Easter Egg for the early Work In Progress Build (good luck finding it!)
